Director, State Policy Analysis
Ben is a trained research scientist and policy analyst hailing from Wisconsin where he received his BA in Neuroscience from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and PhD in Cell Biology from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He has experience researching a range of topics from breast cancer drug therapies to fetal herpes virus infection. While exploring his passions as a translational researcher he discovered a love for patient advocacy, science communication, and issue education. After completing graduate school, Ben, moved to California to serve as a Science and Technology Policy Fellow in the California State Senate writing policy analyses, communicating with stakeholders, and learning the legislative process.
Ben is excited to bring both his research and policy background to his new role as Director, State Policy Analysis for California Life Sciences where he will continue to learn and grow while advocating for policies that support the life sciences in California. During his free time Ben enjoys being with his wife Melissa and their dog Casper.
