UCSF Cardiology Innovation Showcase

 

The UCSF Cardiology Innovation Showcase will be an evening event highlighting the cutting-edge advancements at UCSF’s Cardiology Centers of Excellence.

Curated content will feature the following:

  • UCSF cardiology clinicians and scientific experts will present the latest in cardiology topics and emerging technologies poised to revolutionize healthcare.
  • The showcase will foster networking and collaborations among faculty, industry, non-profits, investors, and trainees, creating a vibrant forum for accelerating cardiology innovations from research to clinical application.
  • Attendees will engage in discussions on how to practically bridge the gap between conceptualizing novel ideas and clinical implementation, ensuring breakthrough science swiftly reaches patients.
  • This forum will also provide faculty, trainees, and external stakeholders with insights into UCSF cardiology commercialization successes and engaging conversations focused on what makes a successful, mutually beneficial, and dynamic partnership between UCSF and industry.

Michael Lesh, SM, MD, FACC. CEO and Founder of Syntegra
UCSF Cardiology Division alumni, 30 years + experience, founder, prolific inventor, and serial entrepreneur
His research led to the first AF pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) patent. Atrionix was founded to commercialize this innovation.
Founder, Chairman and CEO of Appriva Medical, which developed the first trans-catheter LAA occlusion device (PLAATO) to prevent stroke in patients with AF.

Lisa Sueenen, BA, MA, Managing Venture Partner, American Heart Association, Ventures
30 years + industry experience in building and spinning out companies, entrepreneur, raising capital, strategic consulting, and advising companies

Named as one of the Top 50 People in Digital Health by Rock Health, Goldman Sachs, & Silicon Valley Bank

David Mortara, PhD, a Physicist, Scientist, and Founder of Mortara Instrument 
30 years + industry experience and a leader in the field of electrocardiography (ECG). UCSF Adjunct Professor in Cardiology.
Prolific inventor and entrepreneur. Former Head of Engineering at what was then Marquette Electronics. Marquette Electronics is now a part of GE Healthcare.
As a founder, he led Mortara Instrument from start-up to an international industry leader in diagnostic ECG (e.g., innovations in ECG interpretation, digital ECG, and ECG signal processing). Mortara Instrument was acquired in 2017 by Hill-Rom Holdings Inc.
