Small Molecule Preclinical Formulation Development: Liquid and Solid Dose Forms for Animal Dosing (in collaboration with ReechPharma)
October 23, 2025 @ 8:45 am - 5:00 pm

Scientifically strong preclinical formulations are as important as a late-stage clinical formulations to facilitate the successful preclinical evaluation of a potential drug candidate in PK/Pharmacology/Tox studies. Selection of right vehicles and the suitable method of preparation, inactive ingredients, pH, viscosity, flow properties, wetting/dispersibility, solubilizers, and stabilizers are some of the important parameters for formulating a soluble, stable, and bioavailable formulation. Strong pharmaceutics knowledge and experience in formulation development can lead to scientifically robust formulations.
You will learn the following in this lab course:
- Principles and best practices of preclinical formulation development
- Formulations and vehicles suitable for animal PK/Pharmacology/Tox studies
- Hands-on experience with formulation preparation and characterization:
- Solution formulations
- Suspensions and Emulsions
- Solid formulations: Powder-in-Bottle (PIB), Capsules and Tablets
