CLS CEO Mike Guerra’s Statement on SBIR and STTR

CEO Statement Federal Advocacy SBIR / STTR
Statement from Mike Guerra, President & CEO, California Life Sciences and Chair of the Council of State Bioscience Associations

“The SBIR/STTR program is one of the federal government’s most effective tools to support early-stage research for some of the most pressing medical and scientific challenges of our time.

America is home to the world’s most dynamic life sciences ecosystem, and SBIR/STTR funding is essential for our startups working to translate promising science into therapies, diagnostics, and technologies for patients. This reauthorization ensures that their momentum can continue.

As CEO of the California Life Sciences and Chair of the Council of State Bioscience Associations, we are grateful for the bicameral, bipartisan support this measure received in Congress, and we look forward to the President swiftly signing this bill into law.

Reauthorization of SBIR/STTR reflects not only a commitment to supporting innovation, but a broader understanding of what is at stake—America’s global leadership in the life sciences on behalf of patients who are awaiting the next generation of medical breakthroughs.”
