California Life Sciences Association (CLSA), the trade association representing California’s life sciences sector announces the election of three new members to its Board of Directors and the transition of two leadership positions.

“California’s life sciences sector has served as a beacon of light as we continue to lead the nation in the fight against the global COVID-19 pandemic.  2020 was a challenging year but we have seen how robust our ecosystem can be in the face of adversity and how unified our members were in their focus. A lot of that has to do with the direction and guidance of our Board of Directors” said CLSA’s President and CEO, Mike Guerra.

CLSA is proud to welcome Niquette Hunt the CEO and Co-Founder of Candesant Biomedical, Dr. Nadir Mahmood the Chief Financial and Business Officer at Nkarta Therapeutics, and Dwight Moxie the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Revance Therapeutics.

“As we continue to drive momentum in 2021, the leadership and experience of these members will further our collaboration with elected officials, our community, our partners, and with our own membership throughout the state to enhance the strength and growth of our life sciences economy. I also want to extend my deepest thanks to our entire board of directors at a time of extraordinary growth for the organization,” added Guerra.

Also announced this week were changes within the senior leadership teams of business and marketing with the promotion of Andrew Setikas to Chief Business Officer and the addition of Stacey Bowlin to Vice President of Marketing and Programs.

This expanded leadership team, all industry veterans with deep expertise, will help CLSA define and implement a focused and measurable growth-oriented program strategy for CLSA’s membership.

“Over the past two years, we have focused on a key set of organizational priorities which prompted us to realign our leadership,” said Mike Guerra, President & CEO. “Andrew and Stacey have amazing experience in their respective disciplines, and I believe their talents will ensure the interests of our members are rigorously upheld and amplified.

As Chief Business Officer, Mr. Setikas will lead CLSA’s strategic initiatives including our industry partnerships, member experience and value, data management and collaboration, while ensuring sustainable business growth and operational excellence for the membership based trade association.

As Vice President, Marketing and Programs, Ms. Bowlin oversees CLSA’s marketing strategy, including brand identity, event portfolio and programing to effectively position CLSA as the foremost trade association for life sciences in California. She joined CLSA after spending nine years with the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO), where she led the marketing strategy for BIO’s partnering and investor conferences and other cross-functional initiatives.
