As an advocate for strong life sciences intellectual property rights and a member of the Bayh Dole Coalition, CLS is advocating to protect innovation from a proposed rule that may cause investors to hesitate to fund companies that attempt to commercialize federally funded research. Proposals that weaken the intellectual property systems will create significant uncertainties in the innovation ecosystem, risking the study of new treatments and cures for patients. We support lowering health costs for patients, but the government’s seizures of patents will not achieve this goal.
